Mom is taking 2 to 3 hours to eat two eggs no matter how I prepare them. Does anyone make a 'milkshake' for your mom or dad and put eggs in it raw? It is now 11:18 and mom is still working on the eggs I gave her at 9:30. The are fried easy and soft. She would do the same if they are scrambled. She gets into these little tiny chew bites when she eats and I have to keep telling her to chew her food like she is supposed to. Any ideas?

I am not sure if raw eggs are good for you Donna.. but someone else may know.. I have just been giving mom ther protin shakes and I add a banna and fruit in the blender.. Love D

She gets Boost everyday, and I am wondering about using that to make her shakes and add more to it.

Maybe add protein powder with the boost and a little fruit.. it still takes Mom all morning to get even that down.. She has lost any desire for food.. Love D

Somefoods mom will chow down, other things take forever even if they are easy to eat, driving me nuts. Got to make breakfst changes so it isn't lunch time or later before she gets done!

What about pureed (cooked) eggs added to whatever shake you are making? I would worry about raw eggs what with salmonella and all...

is it the protein in eggs she needs ? seems a protein drink would be easier for both of you.

It is the protein, but I also don't want everything to have to be pureed or liquid, but many things are heading that way. Tonight I pureed mashed potatoes with cooked cauliflower, I cooked some ground turkey, pureed it with some crushed tomatoes from a can. Plopped a bunch of potatoes in a fancy plate, made a hole in the middle and put a helping of the meat mix in the center. I am going to make a Chocolate Boost/strawberry yogurt shake for her for desert. Guess as far as the eggs go, I will try to puree them and do something with them that way.

Well, I haven't conquered the egg thing yet, but this food I made for her, she ate very well, so I guess most things are going to have to be pureed. Still takes her at least an hour, but that is better then 2 or 3!

I AM Laughing right now.. I have a good Idea.. make a mashed potato patty with egg in it and fry in butter.. I LOVE THEN THAT WAY.. anything with butter.. AND ANYTHING FATTENING.. Love to ya D

Ok, I made a scrambled egg, then pureed it with a spoon of cottage cheese. It is a nice consistency and she is eating it. Made my husband go yuk, but it is for her not us thank goodness! She can't taste or smell, it is all about what she can assimilate in her mouth and swallow.

Make the eggs blended with milk and hit it up...We often do that at a nursing home and its like a milk shake and its easy to swallow and easy to eat!

Jayda
Oh one more thing to thicken it up try putting thicker in it for consitacy!

Using raw eggs?

Jayda
No cook the eggs first then blend them!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
