Saturday, I actually had time to sit down and do a watercolor that was on my mind. I was trying to get my sister in the mood to do a painting, she's so much better than me!
No such luck, she stayed in the negative about her current impairments. Then I felt like crud for a bit thinking I was making her feel like I was rubbing her nose in it. I've had the paints and stuff sitting out in front of her for over 2 weeks....
Painting is big in our family and is totally for fun. I told her I would buy us some finger paints and butcher paper next weekend and we could make a big happy mess together. She got excited about that!
Do you ever run into a brick wall of resistance like this when it comes to fun stuff?
What do you do to get around the wall?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I guess I get around it by focusing on my Intention, rather than my expectation.
some days are better than others, but when I can do that, I feel a lot better about things.
Inspiration, thats a key word for me and I find when I am inspired, people around me tend to be inspired as well for it is infectious. When something inspires me I become very passionate. I believe your intentions were good with your sister even though she was not in the mood to paint. Might I suggest, since you state she is better than you, that the next time you pull out the supplies and begin to paint that you ask her opinion of what you have done and what she would do to make it better. You never know, she just might have to take that paintbrush and show you how the stroke should be for the shadowing.
Let me know how it goes with the finger painting. I havent done that since I was a child and I just might go out and buy myself some.
What do I do to get around the wall? I have this philosophy I live by religiously and that is if I dont succeed, try again. Painters are creative people - use that creativeness and artistic abilities in different things with your sister. Persistence and consistency with caring about her emotionally and physically will pay off in the end.
Keep up the good work ~ Jo
