I've been my daughter's caregiver her whole life... 22 years. I realized years ago that I had to become her "warrior", of sorts, to get the care and equipment she needed to live the best life she could. From insurance companies, to doctors, etc... I'm sure you can all relate, we all fight the same battles, and we all know that even warriors get tired on so many levels. Years ago, I found this song and it has gotten me thru some of my weakest moments, when I feel beaten, overwhelmed and ready to admit defeat. I listened to it again today (it has been awhile) and it occurred to me to share it with all of you who might feel the same way tonight. I have always found great comfort in music.. I hope you don't mind my sharing and if this post comforts one person here... I'm happy. The song is called "The Warrior is a Child" and it was recorded years ago (probably 80s) by a woman named Twila Paris (in case you'd like to look it up and listen... I believe it's on itunes).
I'm including the lyrics... My hope is that it lifts, comforts and lets you know it's ok to "drop your sword and cry for awhile" you as you care for the ones you love ...
Hugs, Love and Peace of Mind to all,
Donna
Warrior is a Child
Lately I've been winning battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I'm amazing
Strong beyond my years
But they don't see inside of me
I'm hiding all the tears
(Chorus)
They don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
'Cause deep inside this armour
The warrior is a child
Unafraid because His armour is the best
But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest
People say that I'm amazing
Never face retreat
But they don't see the enemies
That lay me at His feet
Chorus x2
I drop my sword and look up for His smile
Because deep inside this armour
Deep inside this armour
Deep inside this armour
The Warrior is a Child

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I play the oldies, from 40's 50's and 60's.
Alltime favorite when I need a lift is 'Cristy Lane's "One Day at a Time"
We have a radio station in Tuscon that plays oldies most of the day.
I have so many cassets I want on CD. I know I can do that on my computer , just have to take time to figure it out.
I keep getting compared to an angel...but I'm not. I do what is necessary. A warrior is a much better comparison.
