My daughter Ava is 6 weeks old and has been yellow (jaundice). Her Ped never seemed concerned b/c she was eating well, had plenty of diapers, and wasnt lethargic at all. Anyway I went for my postpartum check with my OB and he even commented on her color. So I made another appointment with her Ped. She sent her for a billirubin. Her dr just called saying it was high at 14 but not high enough to need hospital treatment (18+). She gave me two recommendations: 1) stop BF her for one week and give only formula (DEFINITELY NOT MY CHOICE) or 2) continue to BF, put her in indirect light 2-3x day and then have her rechecked when she goes in for her 2mo well baby check. Im just so worried! I told the dr that I preferred to continue BF-ing since we just got this baby to start latching last week! I dont want to lose that! She also said she was all for the BF-ing too. Have any of you dealt with this before? I just want to do whats best!
