I had my baby girl on 6/30/08, so she is 3 weeks old today. While she was in the hospital we had to use formula because her blood sugars were unstable because I had gestational diabetes. They wouldnt even give me the choice of breastfeeding/pumping because of the blood sugars. So needless to say, she got used to eating out of a bottle. I have tried nursing her numerous times, but she constantly unlatches herself. When she does finally latch and suck, she only nurses for about 5 minutes. In the hospital, the lactation nurse came in, but she wasnt much help. She just told me to "keep working on it." I have been pumping and giving the baby the breastmilk through a bottle. But recently, my milk supply has decreased and I can only get about 1/2-1 oz out of each breast every 3 hours so I have to give her formula for the rest of the feeding. Any ideas on how I can either get her to breast feed better or produce more milk?
