My baby girl will be 4 weeks old on Monday 7/5. The last three evenings she has been cluster feeding. Her normal nursing sessions usually last about 35min. She will spend 15min on one side then about 20min on the other. But, the last few evenings she has been wanting to be on the breast for three hours straight from 6-9. Last night in my desperation I was googling "evening cluster feeding". From what I have found it is pretty normal. It is frustrating because while she is cluster feeding she seems so uncomfortable and like she isn't getting anything. I feel like she has sucked me dry and is pissed that there isn't as much as she wants. Thankfully the middle of the night feedings go pretty well because the evening cluster feeding has bulit up my milk supply so well. During the day she goes 3 hours between feeding. It seems like by the evening my milk supply isn't that great. My question is, is there anything I can do to help my fussy baby handle the cluster feeding evenings better. Today I decided to try to pump a few times during the day so hopefully I will have a better milk supply in the evening. I don't plan on giving her a bottle any time soon but I figure it will be nice to have some milk on hand for the future date nights with the hubby :) Did you LO go through a phase of cluster feeding in the evening? If so how long did it last? Was there anything you did to make the experience more pleasent? I feel like her fussiness stresses me out and it just makes matters worse. She did go through a growth spurt about 5 days ago where she wanted to nurse all day long.
