For me it did.
I took it off the day that I left.
I was on the phone with an old friend who told me to take it off right then and put it in a drawer.
I did and I still have yet to figure out what to do with it.
But, the act of removing the ring was symbolic for me. The first step to moving forward.
I'm not dating or anything like that yet, but I no longer wear the ring of a man who doesn't love me.

I know I took mine off and it lasted 2 days. I had to put it back on as I was not the one who was breaking my vows. I decided when the divorce is final is when I will remove mine. My husband took his off about 2 months ago. It is up to you. Everyone is different. It was more painful for me.

I moved mine to my right hand. After my first marriage I wore it on my right hand for some time and then one day while driving, out of no where, I rolled down the window and threw it out, it felt very good and I knew it was the right time. such an individual decision. I can tell you for me, I took mine off as soon as he said that he didnt want me anymore. I didnt do it so that I could meet people, rather I think it was to remove a symbol of the rejection and pain.

I love her with every breath I take and I believe that she still loves me, but I do not believe I can wear it knowing that she feels for another. I just took it off and put it on my necklace. The necklace she gave to me....I feel strange about that too.....but for some reason, I still have hope.

I think it depends on how you feel. What helps you start to find healing?

WARNING! VENTING IN PROGRESS:
For me, as soon as the over controling @$@% left I took mine off. The tough times we went through sure brought out the best of her (tongue firmly embedded in cheek). 16 yrs of marriage, and the last 5 had been a living hell, in part to what we were going through together, but to a great extent how she treated me and my opinion during that time. Sure I had my part too, at least I was tring to communicate and work things out.

Despite how she had been over the last few years I too had held out hope though, even after removing the ring. The emotions of removing it are there but ultimately only time and dealing with them will heal them.

For the first couple of months especially I went through emotions from relief it was over to missing her and wanting her back. But ultimatly the lack of caring how I felt wins out and I'm trying to move on (hince my handle), but the ring still sits there in my bathroom, and I haven't had the where with all to get rid of it, that to me will be a milestone of moving on.

I took mine off...for me it was a reminder that he didn't hold our wedding vows sacred and that hurt way too much.

I took mine off when she told me she wanted a divorce. This was three weeks after she told me she wanted to think things out. Once she told me she wanted a divorce and I saw in her that she did not want to make it work I took it off. I could not wear something that was a sign of love and devotion when the other person did not feel that for me. It was a small step forward.

I took mine off after 3 months and he said that the ow meant more to him than me. I just couldn't look at the ring anymore. It made me too sad. I think after wearing it for 30 years the indent of the ring will never go away. I need to get something to replace it with.

I took mine off the day I found out she was cheating on me. I kept it until the divorce was finalized, then I drove to the ocean and tossed it into the sea. No sense in keeping a cursed ring from a cursed marriage.

I thought about tossing mine into the pond but it's frozen over now.

I think when I get rid of mine I'll eBay it to help pay for the cost of the divorce.

I took mine off when it hit me that he has no intention of ending the marriage. He was still wearing his as well but when he saw I took mine off he took his off as well. Couldn't keep wearing it. It seemed like a lie.

When my hubby decided he wanted a seperation, I threw my ring on the bed.....and put it back on the next day.....I realized that I wasnt the one walking away form "us"...he was...my hubby hasnt been wearing his as I saw yesterday....
