I have been married to my wife for 14 years and together with her for 21 (high school sweethearts). Recently (2 weeks ago) she has told me that she wants a divorce, yet she has not filed any papers or moved out.
I have regularly asked her to reconsider, however she is strongly standing firm in her position. She will not do counseling, therapy, etc. "It's just over."
We have two beautiful daughters, 5 and 3, and I'm so distraught over splitting the family, but if she is not going to attempt to repair our marriage with me, I think I need to move on and start bringing closure to this deal NOW! Having her around is killing me!
She has little money and would only be able to move in with her parents at this point. Do I say "Big deal. GO!" or do I let her hang around hoping that she'll have second thoughts and reconsider her terrible decision...?

Well, maybe not big deal go. But, tell her if that is what she is choosing you need her to follow through. Tell her you want to work it out but know you can't make someone. I don't know. This all sucks. Good luck.

IN THE START OF MY MESS, I LEFT THE HOUSE WHEN IT WAS HER TIME WITH THE KIDS. SHE WAS STAYING WITH HER DAD AND THE BOYS WERE WITH ME. I DID THAT SO THE BOYS DIDN'T HAVE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE. BAD THING IS I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT AT SOME TIME THE WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE AND MY STUPID SELF PROMISED THE 8 YEAR OLD THAT HE WOULD NEVER HAVE TO LEAVE. I HAVE STILL NOT LIVED THAT DOWN YET. AS YOU MAY HAVE GUESSED , THAY ARE DADDY'S BOYS

Swan is right. You can't force someone to work it out. And only you know her the best. We all can offer opinions but the final choice is yours and yours alone. And ya it sucks. Sorry I know not much help.

If she is firm that she is not willing to work it out, then she does need to go. You can put it nicely to her but what is she doing hanging around really other than making it worse.

I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
