I got on PlentyofFish.com which someone on DS had recommended. I met someone really nice. However, I got a friend of mine to do a background check after talking to him for 2 weeks and he had a shaddy reputation with law enforcment. I was very disappointed.

About 3 months after I separated, I did that... I had a week where I was feeling I could conquer the world. I canceled right away. I still have a long ways to go before I'll be ready to go there... and I don't think it'll be internet dating for me.

I tried several, but then decided I wasn't ready... too many freaks out there.

I deleted my profile on Match.com, and I still get 'matches'... guess they are desperate!!!

I believe internet dating is too dangerous. I understand the need to find someone. When the the time is right they will show up in the normanl way.

Old generation thinking.

I used eHarmony, which is a little more expensive and requires a little more effort to get on so I think you get fewer weirdos. I have met some nice people. You just have to be careful about how you go about meeting people at first. But really, everyone is a stranger at first whether you meet them online or at the grocery store. But I waited almost a year after my separation before I started dating. Just needed time to heal.

Jay Leno once joked that 3 out of 10 women approved of online dating. The other 7 were dead. :-)

I went on Plenty of Fish, and my stbx followed. I went on dates with 4 women, nothing much happened. But the great thing is that I was messaging with lots of women, they were not rejecting me, and my self confidence rose quite a bit. Then I went to a grocery store, talked to someone, got to know a bit about her, went on a date, and have been seeing each other for a full month,as of today. My stbx had one stipulation, guy must have a motorcycle. She is still with him, and his bike. So POF was good for her.

I have had really good luck with eharmony.com. Everyone that I have been matched to and have had contact with have been very compatable and really nice guys. Whether there is chemistry is another thing, but I have actually ended up being great friends with some of the guys. I guess I wasn't really ready to date. Just wanted to see if there was really the perfect guy out there for me. I know now that there is.

I went to the website to check it out. When I started reading some of the women's profiles it bothered me when I ran accross one woman who said a man's salary was really important to her. She said she had to be honest but that was an important quality she was looking for. I'm sure there are women out there who don't just look at how much a man makes but that sort of gave me a bad feeling when I read it.

Plenty of Fish is a local site started here in Vancouver.. and it has its ups and downs.

For me.. it was too harsh.. at one point everyone in the founding site.. Vancouver was banned for questioning an American Moderator who was all about guns. It was offensive to us..and we questioned her.. next thing you know. we got banned. We were all very nice and gentle folk.. strange stuff. They wanted more of a dating site. not a social site.
A lot of us still meet and have kept in touch it is all good. Sometimes all you need is company of a lot of good pple.. not just one person.
