It depends on the man. If yours is being vindictive then I imagine you have to make the sacrifices to get to the place where you life is right. My x couldn't share the lime light with my kids, wanted to be cared for, and when he wasn't the focus he became porn addicted and had affairs. Fortunatly he left at my request. I think you will find a mix bag here at DS. Some leave, some share the home, some have been left.

I'm sacrificing now for a better future tomorrow.

I have found that Life seldom turns out the way you expected. You need to do what you need to do. It's worth it in the end.

I consider myself a 'modern man' who shares tasks and chores and spends time with the kids and all....but in my opinion, the one who initiates the break up of the marriage is the one who should leave, or at least, leave the option as to who leaves the house, up to the other person. One person can't have ALL the say, or ALL the control.

Great 2 cents Paul. Yes I agree. In my case I had to leave because I couldnt afford to stay in the house we shared. I also wanted to be close to my family where I live now. It has been so nice. I have however split the bills accordingly. He will pay more of the community bills off since I had to borrow money from my family to relocate. The divorce was his idea. I had been trying for years to keep my marriage together.

on my first marriage after about 5 months of trying to make it work i accepted she didn't want to be with me anymore so I left the house, which was the hardest thing i've ever had to do in my life leaving my wife and kids behind, knowing I could never go back home again. I continued to pay the house payment, bought her a new car and payed her car insurance for over two years, until we sold the house.

My second marriage I asked her to leave when she didn't come home the night before. We had no kids to worry about.

Yeah, I know what your sayin. Been that way for a long time for me, but I just now realized it. I should be in the home down in Floida. He wouldn't have the house if it weren't for me (Military). Guess who had to go to give him "alone time". ME! There is a bunch more I won't go into, but I know how you feel. Why did I have to leave. Why did he not stand up and leave like a man? Because he's only thinking about himself. He's the one who wanted this, but I am the one who "had" to go live with family 800 miles away.
