normal, typical, seems like one thing we all have in common is we all seem to go through similar roads. Keep looking forward and take the time you need, just don't do anything Permanent or you can't Take Back. Better to cry alone than burn bridges unnecessarily.

It's normal. My journey started in March and I kept hoping that it wouldn't end like this with her moving out just after Halloween, the divorce right after Thanksgiving, and new single me right before Xmas. Hey - the good news is you have us (DS), right? ;)

Of course you will not feel very joyful. It was 31 years of marriage. The good thing is that maybe now the healing will start and things can only get better. Chin up! My stbx is not even out of the house yet. I am scared of that day even though I know it is best for both of us.

well, I Never graduated college, dropped out 5 times, so no diploma, no degree.

well, 24 years of marriage, I surely learned a lot, so I will get my diploma, and I will frame and hang my decree.

Wow...31 years. What to do? Do whatever you FEEL like doing. Stay home and authentically feel your feelings? That's good. I have found that it is more of a pleasure to feel authentic feelings (no matter what those feelings are) than to feel nothing or stay in false hope. Face in the direction you want to go and begin walking towards your goal. As long as you are faced in that direction and moving forward, you will get where you want to go. And if you don't know where you want to go...start with "I just want to feel better. Even just a little bit better." You won't go from devestated to completely confident overnight, but you will get there if you keep facing that direction. One of the best ways to remain in that direction is to ask yourself...what feels better right now? What can I do right now? Pretty soon you will be knitting together one good moment to the next and then you will be on your way to controlling your own life and forgetting that he was the only vortex through which your well-being came to you. It has only and ever been that you are the only vortex by which well being can come to you. That's why it is so weird to have the rug pulled out from under us (21 year marriage for me...)I let him be the primary vortex for my well-being. My bad!! Now, I am twisting away from that self-imposed deception (it isn't his fault I put him on a pedestal, though he did play along with the concept.
Anyway - whatever it is that you decide to do (and YOU do get to decide), let it be exactly what it is that YOU want to do. It won't work to keep pinning any blame on him now. That will just keep you tangled in his issues and faced in the opposite direction of where you want to go. One suggestion...chin up (literally), deep breath, internal search for the first glimmer of confidence, then do what feels best.
