I was reading the exchanges in the Christianity and Divorce topic and I was saddened by that the discussion appeared to devolve into a "my church is bigger than your church" argument. To paraphrase an old saying, one church's sin is another church's 'so what'.
I believe that I live my life free of sin since I have four principles to guide me (with reflections on Isaac Asimov and his beautiful thoughts).
One: express love first.
Two: do no harm to others.
Three: only think and do things that bring pleasure, or great joy, or happiness.
Four: eliminate thoughts and actions that do not move me towards my life's goal.
I choose not to believe that if I do "wrong" then God will love me any the less; I choose to believe that the concept of "sin" was a device created to control men and women.
Since my stbx violates principles one, three and four, I readily accept that divorce is the best option for me.
This is what I believe.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I am not overly religious, but I do believe I am a spiritual person. I try to follow the basics set out by my faith, but my faith also includes things that I do not believe in and personally have trouble reconciling with. Traditionalists would say that having faith isn't supposed to be easy and by taking the personal spirituality route we are taking the 'easy way' and they'll blame it thus on the state of society we live in today .
But I am also of the opinion the good Lord gave us a brain to use, to concieve, to reason and to come to our own conclusions, not to merely blindly follow dogma and not ever question it. Its a thorny issue and not one I have a clear cut answer for, but I'd have to think there is some middle ground between too much spiritual freedom and not enough.
I do think those are some good guidelines you have set out for yourself though reinventing.
Sorry if that all veered off-topic.
The only real issue I see is assuming one actually CAN live a sin-free life. There's been only one person to do that, and even HE faced temptation.
We are NOT sinless, no matter how hard we try. Nor, are we perfect.
To accept that may be difficult. But, it is the truth and is mentioned many times in the Bible.
Each of us has to admit that, no matter how good we think we truly are. Admitting that, coupled with these ideas mentioned, will really lead to a much closer walk.
Heres a couple verses that may help you. It is clear to me that divorce hurts not only families, but society as well.
Romans 8:13
For if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Ecclesiastes 7:20
yet there is no man on earth so just as to do good and never sin.
