I'm terrified

My husband sent my lawyers a financial proposal last week.He currently pulls in about 8,500 a month.He not only is taking the house(bought 1 year before marriage).He wants to settle at 1,800 a month (child support and alimony combined)My two kids are autistic and since they need round the clock care,I have not worked for the duration of our marriage.Child care for both kids is extremely expensive and I do not have my GED yet.
I cannot rent an apartment unless I make 3x rent.I'm so afraid we will be homeless and hungry.What do I do?God give me strength.

See if your lawyers can counter offer that to something higher. $1800 is nothing when you think about all that is involved. See what your lawyers can do.

It doesn't MATTER What he Wants to "settle" for...it is What he is ORDERED to Pay that matters.

If you were in California he would automatically be assessed 30%, before tax dollars, in child support.

Don't start to panic, let your lawyer get busy-or find a new lawyer.

I am pretty sure in almost every state that who ever is taking the children will get a set % of the spouses income ...also if you are not working and need to be home for them head straight down to the welfare office. sounds crappy but you need it and one day I will to and so will he. we're not millionares and your children seem realy important to you . after that see if you can get you ged then something you can do out of the house like maybe realstate or something form a pc. I know its very scary but hard as is it may be stay positive. He will be ordered to pay more because the status of your children and you can't work. Also start working on getting your GED, everything will work out. I will keep you in my prayers!

If your name is on the deed/mortgage on the house, you get half. Doesn't matter if he bought it before you were married. I bought mine 4 years before I married my second husband and he's taking half because I refinanced and put his name on it while we were married. Also, the law will protect you from his trying to skimp on child support. Just be glad you don't live in the south... kids only get 14% here.

Don't be terrified...you are looking at his "wish" list. I got my x's wish list and was scared too. He offered me one fifth of the value of our estate. I turned it down. You should still be entitled to 1/2 of the equity seen in the value of the house while you were married. How long were you married?

I will pray for you. Contact your local member of government, the local media, any local churches and ask everyone for assistance. if you can get some media coverage

a)you may get some assistance
b) you might get him to fess us and pay you more
c) members of your community may provide ongoing help getting your ged, to babysitting etc

My ex is responsible for a percentage of the child care expenses over and above child support.

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
