I bought a turkey breast for today, since it's just me. And stuffing mix and gravy mix...
So I just took the turkey out of the wrapping and put it in the pan, and I've got the oven preheating. And I'm thinking all it needs right now is a little salt and pepper.
But do I have any? NOOOOOooooooo. I moved into this place over 2 months ago, and for some reason I cannot remember to buy salt and pepper.
And I'm NOT running to the store today to get it. I guess it's gonna be a bland turkey!
Oh well...
It's not as bad as the time a couple of years ago when I was cooking a whole chicken. I preheated the oven, got the chicken all ready, set the timer so that I could make the side dishes during the last bit of time. Made the side dishes, re-set the timer.
When the timer went off, I opened the oven to take out the chicken, but the oven was EMPTY. No chicken. I just stood there dumbfounded for a few seconds, trying to figure out what could have happened to the chicken. Finally I turned around, and there it was in the pan, ON THE COUNTER. I'd never even put it IN the oven!
Anyone else have any funny cooking stories to share?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
We had a party planned, no toilets, no water to wash turkey etc.
Water was back at 3:00am, just as people were leaving... I washed the bird, threw it in oven, and went to bed. Didn't realise until morning that I had used NO spices...
It was still good, there were spices in the dressing, so it made up for the bird being bland!!!
Best of luck with yours, I'm sure it will be great!!!
I am doing the same thing,, cooking for myself that is,, I haven't really cooked in so long that it seems kind of foreign!
It will be great anyway!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Enjoy your turkey. I am sure it's good with or without salt. :)
