I live in Illinois. My divorce was final on march 11th, 2008. Because I didn't have any income whatsoever I couldn't afford an attorney and I couldn't even find a ride to court. I would've represented myself but courthouses make me nervous and I would've frozen up and wouldnt have known what to say or do anyway. Well, I sat down with my now ex-husband before the divorce was final and discussed the whole thing with him. I was a SAHM the entire time we were married so I couldve gotten alimony and child support, but I told my ex that all I wanted was our son. My ex barely even knows our child as while we were married all he ever did was work or sleep. I taught our son to play baseball, football, etc., took him to all his doctor's appts, went to all his school functions, bathed, clothed, and fed him entirely on my own his entire life, even when married to his father. Anyway, stupidly I trusted my ex when he said he would let me keep full custody of our son in the divorce. He screwed me over bigtime. Not only did he get residential custody of our son, he got it to where I was supposed to pay him $10 a week child support...with me having no income at all at the time. I love my son more than anything in this world and my son does not want to live with his father. I chose to have my son for the entire summer and every weekend as my visitations. This past summer, my ex-husband basically abandoned our son with me, saying he couldn't find a babysitter for him so for me just to keep him. I still do not have an income, I am currently appealing a disability claim. My ex promised he would pay me child support even though legally he doesn't have to. He hasn't given me a dime and it's been two months now. I would love to be able to take my ex back to court and get full custody back of our son...I have witnesses galor that would testify on my behalf as personal witnesses that I am the better parent for my son to live with. But, I cannot afford a lawyer. Does anyone know what I could do?

WARNING: This gets graphic. "So it was forced?" "I didn't say yes, but I didn't say no." "Then it was non-consentual," the doctor said with so much confidence. It was as if she said, "the sky is blue," or, "2+2=4." I hadn't realised that I had been raped until that office visit to the women's health center at my college campus's health center. It's still hard for me, 6 months later, to call it...
