CREDIT REPORTS AFTER DIVORCE

Ok a serious credit report question. I will file for divorce on January 7th, 2007. How do we start separating our credit report from our ex's?

My credit is outstanding........that's not the issue. STBX emailed me and said that my condo which I purchased and financed by myself is showing up on his credit report.

Any ideas why it would? In my separation agreement it states that I can buy and sell property, including land in my own right.

You don't.. not that I have been able to find out anyway.
What you can do is contest each entry on the report... contact the agency and they will send you a packet to do that! Good luck!

If the loan or the title is in both your names it will show up on his. If his name isn't on the loan or title, then you need to contact the credit bureaus and get that corrected. I recently had my identity stolen and found out that neither retailers nor the credit bureaus are held accountable for maintaining &/or sharing accurate information.

If his name is on the deed, then you will need to have him sign a quit claim deed.

Go to truecredit.com and order your credit report, and you can dispute anything online that is not accurate. For your husband, have him order his credit report and dispute that the property is his. If the creditor can not prove that he is on that loan within 30 days in writing then it will automatically be removed.

Creditors only have 30 days to respond to any dispute.

Yep - to my knowledge jerrian is right AGAIN - you are going to have to write a separate letter to each reporting agency along with a copy of your decree and contest any detrimental reporting that your ex/stbx may have caused since your separation/divorce. FUN,FUN,FUN

Of course I am right,,, actually, I bought a house after my divorce and the mortgage company clued me in! LOL
You can contact each one of the bureaus and they will actually send you a pkt with the forms to contest. The creditors that do not belong to you have 30 days to prove that the debt is yours, if they cannot or do not respond then it is removed from your credit!
It is really not that hard, just takes a little time!

I was divorced some years ago..(recent ex and I were only engaged, though we did own property together). Today i bought a new car and wondered how my credit rating and report would go...I'm only financing a tiny amount.

Shortly after break up with ex I got a credit report, which wasn't all I hoped it would be, but took the time to fill out the papers to contest. I'm glad I did. Today the finance guy at the dealership said "I haven't seen a divorced person with this good of a credit rating in at least a year!". He told me my score and I was rather pleased. take the time to contest anything that is not totally accurate.

If nothing bad is being reported....who cares. The credit report has nothing to do with ownership.

#8, actually yes, ownership does natter, especially if a balance is owed.

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
