Son had an emergency room visit last month. It was only the second time that he'd ever been to the emergency room...the first was after he turned blue and was unresponsive for 10-15 minutes with a fever...seizure. This time he fell during basketball practice. His hand was swollen to twice it's normal size and his coach thought it was broken...turned out to be just badly bruised. My x carries their insurance...you know, their dad who has nothing to do with them. I received a letter from the hospital stating that the dang insurance was DENIED pending additional info and x didn't even contact me about it. I called the insurance company and they wouldn't tell me a SINGLE thing nor would they let me provide the information about the accident. Seriously. SERIOUSLY. I have to fax them a copy of the order that says that I have sole custody before they will let me discuss anything with them. ARGH. Just pisses me off that their dad is such an ass that he doesn't even give me the heads up about the insurance...and yes, they apparently sent him a form to fill out. ARGH!!! Oh well...trip to my attorney tomorrow to pick up the order (I needed it anyway) so I can fax it to the insurance company.

Say thanks to Bill Clinton on that one. He didn't want his medical information disclosed so he created a law called HIPPA. The insurance companies aren't allowed to talk to you about any health issues. This one bit me a couple of times when I was still married and not going through the big D. You have to be added to the insurance policy as an authorized person for the person oyu are asking about for them to be able to discuss any medical issues with you. And it was insurance from my work. Frustrating and stupid.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...
