So I was talking to the secretary at school the other day about my situation. She said the exact thing happened to her when she was my age. She said that it took her one year to get out of the raw pain, but wasn't fully over him 'till 10 years later!!!!!
Why couldn't she have lied? Yikes

I am glad to hear one year is out of the raw pain. I am only a few months away from that at least. Fully over him in 10 years?

She took it really hard. I certainly don't think that that is the normal amount of time but sure freaked me out.

I think everone heals from this at a different pace. Some people may take 6 months some people may take 10 years. I think it is just an individual thing. I would not try to put a set time to your healing. You will know when you are ready to move on.

Like I've stated before, I have gotten over my stbx,BUT we both knew it was heading for the rocks long before the marriage sunk. 1st month I was a basket case, but have gotten better, to the point I'm happy with myself. Don't try to hurry it up, it's comming.

Everyone is different. I was divorced in July and feel better now after only a few months so don't take what she told you as gospel. Just cause it took her that long does not mean it will to you.

Relax it is a process and you can go slow or faster than slow through, however, there is not fast through it.

maybe 10 years is just when she 'realized' she was fully over him?! sometimes life can be so good we forget to stop and look around!

Different for everyone....I think everyone's time will vary. And I know most would like it to be alot shorter than 10 years.

Its been just over a year for me and I have already achieved total indiffernce. The ex even came over with the gf yesterday, not even a twinge! Indifference is bliss. Evertony deals with their loss in in different manner. Don't let what others tell
you discourage you, just stay on the path.

was married for 25yrs, husband walked on me 5 months ago, hurt like hell, but thru therapy and understanding I have come to terms with it already, and realize now what a favor he did me by leaving, Im finding out a lot of new things about ME and Loving it!! It does not take everyone as long, you can do it..

I've always heard as a general rule, it takes about half of the time of the total marriage. So if married 8 years, it would supposedly take 4 years to completely get it out of your system.

I think if you go much beyond a year and you aren't feeling pretty much over it (things jump out at you every once in a while for a long time, but on a general basis) then you should get some therapy to help get over it. No one should have to suffer through something like that for 10 years! Ask for help. We can't always deal with things like this on oour own.

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
