Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
The likelihood of getting your husband back as he was pre injury is unlikely, there are bound to be changes, some good, some not so. The diagnosis you are given for better or worse may not be. Only time will tell. My son was injured 1998 and we were given no hope. He has made a good recovery, all things consisdered. My Dad was given a good prognosis, we buried him within the month.
