Brain / CNS Tumors Support Group
A brain tumor is any intracranial tumor created by abnormal and uncontrolled cell division, normally either found in the brain itself, in the cranial nerves, in the brain envelopes, skull, pituitary and pineal gland, or spread from cancers primarily located in other organs (metastatic tumors). Brain tumors may be benign or malignant.

I am literally scared to death. Was diagnosed in my small home town with a small meningioma. Wanted to verify that so I sent the MRI to MD Anderson and they said it was metatastic disease. That in its'self was enough to make me question. But at that point they wanted me to do the testing to find the originating source here locally. Went to local Neuro doc ..got the tests done, couldn't find the source! Called MD Anderson, got appt for the 26th. In the meantime I wake in the middle of the night and can't get down the hall. Way to dizzy...can't walk or anything without falling over. End up in E.R. and they tell me I may have had a stroke. Neuro doc orders another MRI and I go tomorrow for results...but when they did it i got a copy of it to take with me to MD Anderson. They carefully screen saved 6 shots..of which reflect my old tumor, new tumor and about a dozen small spots. My brain looks like it is shrinking...does anyone have any advise for me on what to ask MD Anderson and what to look for ..My mind isn't clear enough to put this together on my own!

Sometimes meningioma is positively associated with breast cancer (although metastatic cancer can generate from various locations). Most meningioma are progesterone receptor positive so the drug mifepristone can be used to treat either meningioma or any progesterone receptor positive tumours and cancers. If you are in the US see the Feminist Majority Foundation if it's progesterone receptor positive as they are the only ones in the US you can access that particular drug through for compassionate uses. As the drug is not readily available most doctors won't know about it nor where to access it - see the FMF is that's the case for some info but you'll need to find out the hormone receptor status as soon as they can locate the original source of metastatic disease and get a biopsy.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
