I feel like I'm worse off now that I'm on meds than I was before the meds. I've had 5 major episodes in the last year and a bit, I've had my one and only mixed episode, again on meds, and I have to deal with all the damn side effects from my meds.
Now I'm not going to go off my meds and I'm certainly not suggesting anyone else go off of their meds, but what I would love to know, if there are other people who feel like they are now worse on their meds compared to before they started them.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Mine took a year or so to feel.
If someone had given DS to me earlier, I would have known to complain more.I just allowed the side effects to hit me.I was ingnorant as Bush would say ..haha x
When I realized he was adding meds to counteract side effects of meds, I changed pdocs. This one reduced anti-depressants and Switched me to Lamictal. I use Seroquel to short-circuit any events. I am much more in control of my life and my treatment.
If you are one ones that dont need to be ramped up slowly, 3 months should enough to see any changes, good or bad.
Then I found a really good doctor that weened me off everything. Then started new. It took several different trys and a little over a year, but I am doing better now. For me I would never leave all my meds behind. I was just reading last night in a book (Ok I went and got the book so I could quote it correctly) it says " -..Some medicines have what are called neuroprotective properties: They are able to protect the brain from being damaged by the illness, and many may actually activate natural mechanisms for the growth of new nerve cells." This is from the book Take Charge of Bipolar Disorder a 4- step Plan... By Julie Fast and John Preston, PsyD
