when all of my family was alive we'd have these massive christmas dinners. the highlight of the day was what we called a joke off. we would prepare for months ahead cause you had to say the jokes by heart, no stuttering. it went around the circle and it had to be a new joke from last year! my uncle guy won every year! when you stuttered or loss your train of thought, you had to take a shot. and the next thing which was pretty sad but funny as hell by the end of the night,, they would make my grandma cry by telling her how bad the food was!! lol!

Well, maybe one year as a child when my granparents were alive and my parents were drunk and beating the shit out of me I got to stay with them for 2 weeks. I t felt so good not to get the shit beaten out of me and to have someone tell me they love me. For once in my life I felt happy I miss them so much.
Then I remember looking out the window and seeing my first pony tied to the tree in the back yard! A little grey pony!
OH WAIT! THAT NEVER HAPPENED!
Yeah, we'd silently open gifts, then my dad would get wasted and my mom would drag me to my grandmother's house and someone would get arrested. Bah humbug.
But the one that stands out was when my parents got laid off right before Xmas,
we had all of our stuff in layaway and had to take it back.
so I remember getting a box on xmas day.
it was from the salvation army's adopt a family program.
3 families adopted us and sent us gifts.
