Guess that was sarcastic, but then I enjoy sarcasm as long as it's not hurtful to anyone :-)
However, I have a legit question (I think).
Right now I feel terribly down, forced myself to do some work and ended up manically screaming at anyone that came close to me.
My question is what is the difference between "mixed episodes" and
either, dysphoric mania or agitated depression.
The symptoms seem to be the same for every single one of them...how are we supposed to know the difference? Or have they just made up 3 different names for the exact same problem to make our lives just a little bit more confusing? (sorry, more sarcasm)

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
a serious reply...
cuz all my manias have been dysphoric, except for one.
and i've read all the stuff. and i've come to the conclusion that there is no difference between a dysphoric mania and an agitated depression. i really think they are the same thing and i don't understand the literature that tries to distinguish between the two.
yeah, they wanna make our lives more confusing.
i guess i don't care what they call it.. i experienced it... the meds work...
you know?
dysphoric mania: The presence of a depressed or unpleasant mood during an episode of Mania produces a clinical picture called Dysphoric Mania.
agitated depression: a state of depression that presents as anxiety and includes akathisia (heightened restlessness), suicide, insomnia (not early morning wakefulness), nonclinical (meaning "doesn't meet the standard for formal diagnosis") and nonspecific panic, and a general sense of dread.
akathisia; is an unpleasant subjective sensation of "inner" restlessness that manifests itself with an inability to sit still or remain motionless
My biggest problem with this was when I was trying to keep a mood diary...totally impossible to do...I used to check off the bad high AND the bad low...let the doc figure it out.
Interesting to know they are the most dangerous periods...they certainly do feel like it :-)
Thx, again..B
