I had only worked in mental health for a short time when I hear this story.
There was this little old lady who had been staying there at the hospital for some time. She was very sweet and never caused a ruckus about anything, everyone loved her. She had everyone wrapped around her finger, she knew it but didn't abuse it.
One day the nurse was charting at the nurses station and she over heard somebody ask for a toothbrush. About 30min or so later the nurse was still charting and she heard someone ask for a toothbrush again. She looked up and saw who it was. The nurse asked the little old lady how she felt and she replied that she was fine. about another 30min later the nurse watches the lady walk up to the nurses station and hears her ask for another tooth brush. The Nurse walked up to the lady and asked where was the other toothbrush was. The lady responds I ate it. The nurse couldn't believe that the toothbrush had been eatn so they searched the ladys room and found no tooth brushes. The Nurse decided to send the patient to the ER for an x-ray. After they took the x-ray they found 32 toothbrushes in her stomach.
true story, unbelievable
