Why is it that a lot of christians have a huge fear of the mentally ill? They seem to think that mental illness is a demon and must be prayed out of you.I'm finding it rather hard because I live with christians. They have accepted that I am mentally ill but still believe that it needs to be prayed out of me or something. Not all of my family know about it,my friends who are non christians are far more supportive. My church pastor doesn't know, but I had many church people asking me if I had work yet(I had taken time off to sort myself out and get on track with new meds)I would have loved to have told them the truth but felt they would judge me.My mum who is a christain and who has suffered with mental illness while I was growing up,doesn't even understand me!She has a stigma about mentally ill people too.She tells me there is nothing wrong with me,but how can she say that when she lives around the other side of the world and hasn't seen me for five years?
