I don't think this falls into the herbal remedy category, but I take the fish oil capsules and really do think that they help me with my short term memory and also to help me think a bit more clearly.
And I don't care if it's only the placebo effect!!!! LOLOL!!!! I like it!!!!!

I was on amino acids with a Natural Meds Dr. back in the spring. It seemed to help at first, but then sent me into a downward spiral. I question "natural remedies" alone and would never do it again without a Pdoc monitoring it.
I don't put a lot of faith in herbal remedies. Is it FDA tested and approved? If not, be careful. I myself won't even try them. When it comes to herbal medicines that are not FDA approved, you can never be too sure what you're getting. Each capsule, though the front of the bottle might say each capsule is x amount of mgs, doesn't always have that amount in them. Like Melatonin, for instance. I recently read an article in WebMD magazine written by a doctor explaining why Melatonin isn't really all that beneficial, and that each tablet could contain more or less mgs than stated on the bottle. Since these drugs are not FDA approved, you're taking them at your own risk, and some, though herbal, can interact with whatever prescription medications you might be taking.
I know some people are firm believers in all these herbal medications on the market, but I am not one of them. I put no faith in them whatsoever really. Definitely talk to your doctor about this. Let him/her know what you've been taking, and that your Effexor isn't working anymore. Sounds like it's time for another SSRI or SSNRI.
Best of luck!
Even dope doesnt chill me out, the way it used to, now I just depend on it
