Does anyone have relatives that roll their eyes at you when you talk about being BP? I mentioned at thanksgiving dinner that I had joined a new BP site on the net (DS) and I got a rolling eye reaction, that gave me a very uneasy feeling. How do you handle relatives like this?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

My inpatient pdoc decided it would be a good idea to have my only living sibling come in to a meeting. (Mind you, he never goes to hospitals much less psych units) This was about 5 years ago.
By the end of the meeting, although I got validation that we grew up in a violent and abusive home, he stated he didn't understand why I couldn't just leave it in the past. After all, both our parents were gone now, shouldn't the pain be too. The pdoc tried explaining the PTSD and how it impacts the bipolar, but....he gave me a hug an left. Never did come back again.
