You'll need
1 cup of sugar
1cup of corn syrup
3 tsps of baking soda in a small bowl
Heavy Bottomed pot
Candy Thermometer
Heavy duty stirrer (?) IE: Spoon w holes in it
8 1/2 X 13 inch pan
The Madness:
Put the sugar and corn syrup in the heavy bottomed pot. Attach the candy thermometer to the side, making sure you're reading the temp of the candy, not the bottom of the pot
Get the pan and butter or margarine it, sides and all
Stir sugar and syrup constantly, until F305-309 is reached.
DO THIS NEXT PART FAIRLY QUICKLY
Add the baking soda and stir...It will foam up and want to burn...pour into pan, let cool, crack apart and enjoy
Sometimes, I do a double boiler with chocolate chips in it and spread the melted chocolate over the candy after it's cooled
Remember: KEEP AWAY FROM ALL SOURCES OF WATER !!!!!
Bake for a long time 1 hr maybe more until knif comes out clean when you insert it into the pi.It's not going to the bright pretty orange color youare used to ...sometimes they even come out kinda grenish looking ...but the taste is HEAVAEN...I'll go look for my Fanny Farmer CookBook and see if I can fine tune this recipe for you...I usually cook by the seat of my pants...people ask ...how mucjh of this?

Raw pumpkin...peel
se approx a 3 lb pumpkin
boil until soft....mash well(or use the blender trick..just do it in batches..not all at once)
1/2 t cinnomon
1/2 t ginger
1/4 t clove(ground..please!)
Before you add the eggs..taste it for the correct spicey taste........
6 oz of sugar
1 3/4 c milk(half and half!)
Taste it now for the correct flavor you want(I remeber adding a lot more spices)
2 eggs
Blend well.
