WHAT WOULD U DO IN THIS SITUATION IF IT WAS ONE OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE OTHER CAR??? WOULD U BE MORE UNDERSTANDING?? WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT THIS KINDA STUFF??? UUgggghhh!!
October 16, 2007 (SKOKIE, Ill.) - Jeanette Sliwinski waived her right to a jury trial Monday. Tuesday morning her bench trial began. She is charged in a 2005 crash that killed three. Prosecutors say Sliwinski was the one hoping to be dead after the crash.
She is accused of murder for allegedly ramming her car into the vehicle carrying the three victims. Her attorneys will argue that Sliwinski was insane at the time of the fatal crash.
The State of Illinois vs. Jeanette Sliwinski began Tuesday. This case goes back to a day in 2005 when Sliwinski's car collided with another car. There are some estimations that her car was going more than 80 mph when it hit the other vehicle that was already at a stop. That car contained three men who all died. What this case comes down to, and what the judge will ultimately decide, is what was her mental state.
Assistant state's attorney Jim McAuliff said, "She committed murder. She killed Michael Dahlquist, John Glick and Douglas Meis."
Sliwinski's attorney contends she was legally insane at the time, saying she had a history of depression, suicidal thoughts bipolar disorder and psychotic episodes.
"The fact that three people died is a tragedy. The massive loss does not make it murder," said defense attorney Todd Pugh.
THIS IS ONLY A SNIPPIT (?) BUT WHAT PISSED ME OFF IS THE MORNING SHOW W. MIKE AND JULIET.. geraldo and Jeanine Pirro do a segment called 'the Verdict', and Geraldo was actually defending the fact that she had many psychiatrists to testify of her mental illness and state, but the Bitch Pirro disagreed with the insanity plea, because she purposely ran into them and had told her mom on the phone right before that she felt suicidal... something like that....

I have been here before, a long long time ago and now I am back.Forgive me for not just saying what I want to say, even under a triple dose of antidepressants it is still raw and seeping and I am hesitant at revealing it as at least under the bandages around my heart I don,t have to look at how raw and wounded. My child was cleaved from my heart by his own actions. my child of ten, turning eleven...

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
So the woman said she deliberatly hit the car?
We need more facts.
Was she suicidal? How do we now she was?
If you're suicidal does that make you insane?
yeah she was apparently suicidal,, said she was the one that wanted to die, had just been in an arguement with her parents.....
that's my question... suicidal.. insane? off meds.. insane?? WHO AND HOW DO THEY JUDGE THIS??
If the answer is No then yes the insanity defence is plausable. If she knew that by hitting the other car she would kill her self and possibly the people in the other car but did it anyway then no its not plausable... she knew that it was wrong but choose to kill her self that way anyway.
Its a very fine line. THey dont want to give carte blance freedom to people that suffer from mind altering problems but they do have to be taken into account. I think that for some one like that an actual sentance maybe in order but in a facility that can handle the mental problems. Not a cushy place but at least not gen pop where they will be further tortured with in thier mental illness. I dont think that someone that kills a person even if insane should be given a true sentance of time that they spend in a mental ward jail. Not be allowed to be released when they are stable.
i know i drove drunk a few times when i was manic, but was "extra" careful, whereas, when i was a TEEN, i remember passing trucks n cars on the left side of the freeway at like 90-95 mph... with NO alcohol, NO bp..... then what?
I hope she gets off. I don't think it shoud be considered MURDER!! I thought in order to get a MURDER charge you have to show it was premeditated?
I still think that if some one is in a state of mind like she was despite if she ment to kill others or not that she should be sentanced to a mental facility for a term similar to the crime... she needs mental help but should still be accountable to her actions. I feel for people in that state of mind but they really do need to be responcible for thier actions after the fact.
To many people would start claiming mental illness if it became a way to just walk...
and i dont think just ANY1 could use it as an 'excuse' because like i said, she has many psychiatrist's records and such that say she has had many mental issues... tough stuff to deal with!
With that being said, it's a tough thing to judge - was she psychotic? Was she hallucinating? Did she know what she was doing? Well, I guess that's up to the courts (I don't envy their job).
Ultimately Im medicated... and I still have these attacks even if rare now... but Im still obviously a threat to society...
If you were judge how would you rule? Remember Im in the middle of a panic attack... I am not aware of my surroundings my own safty and that of others... Im not suicidal.. I dont intend to hurt any one yet it happens...
Or even worse I get in the car and 'run away' and hit some one because I didnt see them comming and turned into traffic or something....
that's why there are so many aspects, but when manic, ur mind is truly taken over... BUT I'M not saying she wasnt still in SOME sort of right mind, but don't think she THOUGHT about who she was killing but wanted to die herself..
maaaayyyybe i shouldnt have asked this,, too controversial
I was actually debating which I would prefer
