Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

The news is full of reports about the shooting in the Omaha mall. Several of the news stories I've read on the web have zeroed in on the fact that the kid was depressed.
A similar thing happened with the shooting at the college last year. There was another big noise about mental illness.
People were in two camps about it:
Talk radio and the majority of articles I came across were full of how we should be afraid of us and how we should deny us guns (hunter here, not going to happen) and hospitalize us and throw away the key.
Others, the minority, said that we should have better access to health care.
Related issue; the only positive thing that I can see comming from Bush's attrocious war is, with all of the poor soldiers comming back with PTSD, there may be more emphasis on treating mental illness.
What do you all think?

i made this account because i hope this reaches someone who can understand. I feel immense shame and guilt over my past behavior while manic. I have ruined relationships with friends and family members, gotten tattoos that i dont want, done things that make me cringe. The weight of the self hatred gets to be too much sometimes. I feel like a burden. Nobody understands. I hate myself today.

Our great friend OlderC could really use some love and support right now... She's hit a rough patchBig squishy hug Kat... I hope that you start to feel better really soon.... xo
I dunno, i live in britain, we don't do guns!
But I think there need to be stricter regulations, like maybe some mental illnesses shouldn't qualify. Just my opinion.
as for the shooting, i dont know all the facts, but it is horrid
as for gun control, i believe there are too many guns around and too many angry people... and this, statistically, mentally ill people are less prone to violence than the general population
***stepping off soapbox***
I don't condone what these folks do but in my condition I have to say "there but for the grace of God."
I think we all need to make good decision on weapon ownership based on our personal situation. SRC
If so, could you send me a message? If I can find something like that, I'll write an op-ed for the newspaper and try to get on a local radio show. Did these things after last year's college shooting.
Yes, I think so.
