I was reading the April Cosmopolitan magazine, and there is an article called "The Dangerous Mistake Gutsy Woman Make." They mostly explain that it is dangerous for woman to confront males in a negative way. They mostly back up their article saying that young men have the natural predisposition for aggression and what not. But here was one paragraph that I felt was an unfair and unfounded swipe at bipolar disorder. The author addresess intermittent explosize disorder in conjunction with bipolar disorder, "People with this disorder are prone to fits of rage but behave normally rest of the time...others may in fact have bipolar disorder.......which often goes misdiagnosed.....There are just too many ill people in the world." I think it was irresponsible for them to write about these two disorders in the same paragraph. It connotated that bipolar people are dangerous people. This is disturbing to me because there already is so much stigma associated with bipolar disorder. Why did Cosmopolitan have to mention bipolar at all? I would say alcohol abuse statistically is involoved with more male violence than any other factor...was it mentioned...no. Did anyone else read this article?
