Ok so all mammels have brains.... so in therory they can have imbalances. they have already shown to have emotion so is it possible they could have 'mental' illnesses?
I dont think my cat is BP but I am beginning to wonder if he has a couple of OCD traits. Im new to the community on the OCD board and I dont want them to think I am making fun of the illness... I know you all know me well enought to know I take it seriously...
My cat gets very very obsessive about his food bowl. If he can even SEE the bottom of the dish (my cats free feed) He starts in for it to get filled. He has never suffered a time where there was little or no food... he is a healthy almost fat cat that is well loved and nurtured... but EVERY time his dish is getting anywhere near empty he sits there next to it or gets your attention and then silently or with meows makes his plea for it to be filled. now for the compulsion. He has great hearing. If he thinks I am in the bathroom he runs in there just to sit at his bowl and take a bite or two. I could pee 20 times a day and he would take a bite 20 times. Not a time goes by that Im in there that he isnt scratching at the door or opening it (he is very talented). the others join me in there too but they just want pets.
Can animals be cooky too??? Do your pets seem to have any special needs? LOL

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
thats like my little one... He wants you to pet him but he walks around you all haughty like cats do like they are better then you but you "CAN" pet them if you want like its an honor... so would that be an egomaniac???
wow my house is mental... a OCD cat and an Egomaniac.... now to figure out what smokie is... well he is a teenager so he is everything all at once lol
My 5 year old female lab is completely neurotic. She will be someones best friend, lovin them on and on. And litterally 5 minutes later she will attack them. She super sensitive to her enviroment sometimes a fly will set her off into a tizzy. We took her in to a special trainer for "problem Dogs" he told us that she had no pattern or particular triggers to her "disorderly conduct". He told us to put her down... Anyways we didnt. We are just careful when people come over she usually has to be kennaled and when we are not home she is confined.
I have two cats that are full of issues too, but I think thats more our fault than not.
Dont get me started on our new dog. He is classic ADHD. he even moves around and barks in his sleep. I have never seen him staystill. He is a total scatter brain. But he is very intelligent. He has no common sense. He is tiny 10 pounds. But he will take on ANYTHING. He goes into the cow pasture and jumps onto the cows backs, or grabs their tails. Hes INSANE...
I think their issues are more pronounced as they are being abused by my 2 yr. old! Awww..poor doggies!
I had a cat who would only ever sleep in the airing cupboard and would only eat chicken...lol spoilt pussy!
I am just kidding.
I am ocd and I have read some of your stuff there. I like your silliness.
Do you realize you just opened a can of worms??
Everybody here has a pet with a weird silly mental issue. lol
I have a dog and 2 cats. My cat biscuit has to be in the bathroom everytime somebody is in there ... if he isnt he will meow and scatch like crazy. We try to tell him we want our privacy but he always wins. He jumps up on the towel rack, an empty spot just for him, and lays down to sleep while we shower. If we leave he is outta there.
My dog cant stay home alone. She will break out somehow. She has mastered the art of opening the windows. She will also tear down all the curtains.Used to be whoever was the last person to say.."Stay here Brandi Loo Loo I will be right back" (leaving the tv and lights on for her and not gone long cause we knew)
She will litterally pee on that persons bed . If it is me or my husband she pees on the side of the bed she knows we sleep on. When we left her for a whole night once she peed in the center of all of our beds!!! Dont worry, after we picked up on what she was doing we punished her by showing her the spot and not letting her do special things like sit on the couch.."no brandi you peed on my bed!" She is very smart and seems to understand everything we say. Its not bad now she has stopped that she just escapes from the house. She is a huge loveable pit bull.(7 YEARS OLD) She has serious issues with loud noises like a balloon popping or a gun. We got her full grown and well trained but we wonder if she was ever been miss treated. She has panic attacks. She even sees a balloon she knows that sooner or later it will pop. (like me I hate waiting on one to pop) but she will try to be in a different room or lay in the farrest spot and watch it saddly. My other cat Hauby, is weird about another cat using his litter pan. He will use the bathtub if biscuit uses his. I dont know if its territoral cause biscuit is the man of the house and hauby (male) knows this. They are also very addicted to catnip. The pot heads.
I find it kinda funny they do put the animals oh the mental health meds.... And I think there is truth in the survival of the fitest.... maybe our quirky animals wouldnt have survived in the wild...
Oh and I should mention for those that have heard me talk about fluffy (visit pictures if y0our curious) the hairless rat, her OCD trait was she couldnt stand the tiny patches of soft hair that would grow on her and she had to clean her self and me constantly to the point of rediculous.... I mean does it really take 2 hours for a tiny rat to clean its self????
