Good morning. I know this is going to be strange for all of you teenagers out there that are in the support group to have an Adult a mother of all things writing to you and asking you all for advice. But I have always believe that sometimes it is good to be able to listen to you rather than another adult because we are programed in our age to look at one side and not the other. But I have always been the type to never judge but to have an open communication. I'm a mother of 4 and grandmother of 5. My question for help is: We use to be foster parents years ago and we had a young girl living with us at the time she was 10 and was diagnosed with ODD and Bipolar ii. She was taking her med and doing good when she would be down she would ride her bike or go walking to calm down. But then she left to go to another foster home after 3 1/2 years living with us so at 14 the other home she went to took her off her meds so she got into drugs for over a year or so but thank goodness she had some friends help her get off. She is 19 and got out of the system and moved back with us about 9 months ago. I have not been around anyone else that has bipolar or ODD so I forgot about the mood swings so we started butting heads and she is now at the point that she hates me so much that it is unreal and is moving into an apartment this friday. I really want this for her but not being stable and not making enough money to really afford this is going to put her in a more depressed mood. I have tried to tell her that I was so sorry that I forgot about her mood swings and all I was doing was putting more logs on the fire by arguing with her instead of just stepping back and letting her vend out until she came off the roller coaster. I meantioned this morning to her that I found this support group called Daily Strength that would really be awesome for her but she says there is nothing wrong with her. If any of you out there have ever denied having bipolar and then started taking medications and noticed that it does help you would you please write me and so I may share it with her.
