Mistaken perceptions (illusions)

What are Mistaken perceptions (illusions)? And how are they different from hallucinations?

When I am reading the symptoms of being psychotic it mentions that Halucinations and Mistaken perceptions are different.

I don't know...I think maybe mistaken perceptions might be delusions.

Mistaken perceptions are like if you see a dog run in front of your car but in your brain it registers as something different.When you see something and it appears as something else.Shadows do this alot.
A hallucination is actually seeing something that is just not there.A building where there is not one ,a person who is not there.ETC.
I have been watching tv before and all the faces were demon faces that is a mistaken perception.I have been in my kitchen and turned around and a girl would be standing there and that is a hallucination.Hope that helps:)

Hmmm... I'm not quite sure. At first blush, it would appear that a mistaken perception is a misinterpretation of an external, but real, stimulus whereas a hallucination is something that originates within us and that has no basis whatsoever in reality.

Good question. I would think that they would be on the same line. Man I have got alot of research to do.

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
