I'm having a manic reaction to Zoloft (and have all SSRIs I've tried recently). Is there anything I can do RIGHT NOW non-drug related to help offset the mania until the drug leaves my system? I'm mainly feeling intense restlessness, inability to focus/concentrate, "on-edge" feeling, and irritability.
Thanks

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My hypomania is real smooth and fun, except when I am making a big time ass of myself. (Flirting with all the woman at my work, etc.)
Are you bp 1 or 2? Have you asked your doc about lithium or lamictal?
I was just diagnosed bipolar today. And not because I have clear manic symptoms but because I do whenever I try a SSRI - it seems to induce it. I've tried Effexor, Paxil, Lexapro, and now Zoloft - every single one of them induces severe insomnia, restlessness, and jumbled thoughts - can't think clearly.
Hope it eases up & you feel better real soon!
No I haven't tried Celexa - is that a SSRI though?
Non medication help... have you tried slow deep breathing techniques?
I really feel for you. I had the same problem time and time again. I didn't like being that high because I was just on the ceiling, unable to do anything at all.
It works for me to help me when i am on the edge of mania.
I will not take any drug to calm me down.
but chamomile tea and some peace and quiet will go a long way
Any antidepressant can make you manic. Are you taking a mood stamilizer as well? If not, you should be.
