Hello everyone! I just wanted to ask a question. I am researching and researching my treatment options for bipolar. I've heard very scary things about lithium in the past, like its easy to overdose on it. I hear you have to constantly have your blood monitored. I hear the side effects are nasty.
Well, again these are things I have heard, which has kept me in denial for years w/ my bpd. Could you guys who take/have taken Lithium give me some true insight on this drug.
And could someone explain to me exactly what rapid cycling is? I mood swing like a yo yo... is that what it means?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I hope you get the answers you're looking for.

rapid cycling... almost feeling a different emotion every second. someone asks how you are and you can't even get it out before your mood changes again.... it'll be like that for a few hours than die down and i'll be extremely depressed, then my head will start spinning out of control again....
those are my bad days. on good meds (like the cocktail i'm on now) the "bad days" happen fewer and farther in between.
Rapid cycling is when you don't seem to stay in the depression or manics too long. It is like a yo-yo. I'm prone to depression and hypo-mania. I cycle rapidly with both at times, but generally stay in the depressions longer. I hope this helps.
