Do you believe that suicide is the workings of an unstable mind or do you believe that some people faced with a disabilitating illness like cancer or MS can chose (in their right minds) that they want to die?

deleted_user
It's still suicide...but I'm not gonna judge them...kinda pro euthanasia except that it would create a slippery slope with people being knocked off for convenience to carers or whatever. Very tricky subject.

What did jesus say!

deleted_user
I don't know what Jesus would have said that's why I asked the question.

deleted_user
I do believe some people choose in their right mind.

There comes a time with a terminal illness when you have to make a decision either to help your self while you still can or possibly face significant suffering.

deleted_user
yeah I kinda believe that too

I'm kinda pro-euthanasia in certain situations. I'm honest about that.

My minister's husband is dying of brain cancer. He is a minister too. He recently made the decision to stop chemo because his quality of life was being affected. Is he committing suicide?

I don't know why...I can't really put it into words that's why I am asking the question to see what you guys think. Maybe it will help clarify things for me. I am not suicidal or anything I was just wondering what people thought :)

deleted_user
no I wouldn't say that was suicide, he is putting himself in Gods hands. My grandmother went through something similar

When I was in nursing school i worked in Hospice / Home heath With AIDS and cancer this was before there was any real HIV treatments. believe me no one knew they would end up suffering like that.

yeah he's been on chemo for years and years now. They thought they were losing him back in October. Didn't think I was going to come back from Australia and find him still alive. It is a really sad situation because she is about to retire too and what does she have to retire to....a dead husband.

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
