I realized recently that I think I need new docs. My pdoc is foreign and has a really thick accent and I don't think he can understand what I'm saying sometimes. The communication is just not there. He's a really nice guy with a lot of experience but I don't think he's right for me.
Also, my tdoc doesn't really specialize in these "heavy" disorders. She does mostly marriage counseling and talk therapy. I think I need to go a different direction. Only problem is I've seen her since January 2005 and it seems like it would be rough to start over since she has all my records and knows where I'm coming from. I really like her but I wish I could find someone who specializes in bipolar disorder. Is there anyway I can find new docs that specialize in BP? I feel like I need someone with more experience dealing with this disorder. Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I had been in HMO's for along time where they pretty much assigned me a Pdoc for my bipolar but for teh last few years as my insurance coverage changed I had to call around for a Pdoc and therapist. One does your meds and the other works with the Pdoc amd meets with you for therapy.
I found not all therapists deal with bipolar but hey referred me to one that did and then I had to find one that was taking new patients. Start by calling therapist close to you and get their recomendations. they will tell you who to get for a Pdoc for the meds.
Not many psychiatrist (Pdoc) do therapy in my area. Costs too much and it takes too much time for them so therapists have picked up the slack.
goodluck. Write me if you have more questions.
