Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
We get angry yet move on.The posts keep appearing and it shows me it's still out there and it saddens me.
" Pull yrself together!" is a classic idiot order.
We can't, we need help pulling ourselves together.
Parents told me this after I flunked out of a ez state college.
Another favorite-"You can talk yourself out of depression." LMAO how ignorant.
on halloween
like u do 'this' cuz ur bipolar.. ok,, uhh no i have PMS ... or nooooo, not cuz i'm bp, because u really actually hurt my feelings.. u get my point I'm sure..
"If you would get out more, you'd feel better."...totally dismissing the fact that I have been getting out.
"Just stop doing that!" In reference to my self injury.
"You need to work if you can." Even though I get SSDI and would undoubtedly get beyond sick if I attempted to go back to work at this point. How can one work when he or she is in and out of the hospital all the damn time?
I know there are more, but they're all stupid. I once had a guy in a tattoo shop, a nam war veteran, tell me of my numerous scars..."Honey, I've had some pretty bad habits in my life, but nothing like that. You're too young to be doing that!" Amazingly, that didn't anger me, though. Wonder why?
She now understands. That was 3 years ago. She "gets it" much better now. I had to keep a straight face from laughing as depressed as I was back then. She meant well.
