my supervisor tried to fire me because I was in a mixed state and had missed 2 days of work already. I came in for a meeting with her and the owner came to sit in on it, I broke down and told him (the owner) everything. He said, "why didn't you tell me before?" I said, "It's hard to tell someone you're crazy." He let me use the phone in his office to make the appt for the intensive outpatient counseling my gp had prescribed and gave me 2 weeks off to go to it! I still had a job when I came back (on lithium) and the company insurance paid for my psych appts. woohoo!

I always quit before they are given the chance to fire me...

I was "downsized" after my company found out I was committed for suicidal depression.
My history of being a great employee etc, was not considered.
I still get angry when I think about it.

Never been fired but I have quit in a bit of a fury once. I was seriously pissed off at my boss and stomped out of the centre telling her I had passed all my students onto other music schools and that I would never reccommend her school to a living soul AND that she orta buy more music stands or redecorate the storage room!

yep, my last job 9 years ago. It was the lowest paying job I ever had. I was working and I went manic and couldn't function. They fired me and I said that I quit. Fortunately, I put
in an application with the place I work for now, just a few weeks before, and I was hired three weeks later. I've been there 9 years now, and its the highest paying, and one of the best jobs I've ever had.

I usually have to quit. The bosses hated that i would quit because when I was up I was their strongest employee but when I am down there is nothing that I can do about it to get things done.

I really hated quitting my position as full time EMT in VT. I loved being an EMT. I also hated quitiing my job as a computer systems manager in 1999 however that was due to both mental and a REAL Physical illness which they were pissed I needed emergency surgery for then that sent me into a manic/depression whirlwind and was immediately hospitalized for a psycotic break.

That is life with this illness. People can't believe how NORMAL I can be but when I loose it I really loose it. Thank God I am not one to endanger anyone else. just Me Myself and I!!!

I asked my last job to give me some flexibility until I could get into counseling and on the right meds and they refused. So I had to quit. I was there best when I was in and there worst when I was depressed and stressed. I feel better knowing I am not the only one.

I also have been in MA for almost 10 years and in that ten years, I have had probably 15 jobs. Now I am home taking meds and stressed about $$$ for my family and feel like the position we are in is my fault. It is an awful place to be in.

Yes, I got fired because of my lack of concentration. That is a big NO NO in the medical field. Also had to quit a job that I really loved. Benn doing ok in that area for nearly 5 years now.
