Has anyone experienced vivid audio and visual hallucinations? I have been experiencing them more frequently in the last two weeks and I am clearly not psychotic (which I thought was the only time we heard/saw things). I don't get it and it's really bothering me.

you on meds?

Yes

Yes, and i was finally diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, though they can occur w/BP. Mine were audial hallucinations, voices... You ought to bring it up w/your pdoc and maybe he/she can prescribe an antipsychotic for you. (Many of these are given to BP'ers because they may also help control moods.)

Sometime the wrong med mix can cause it. I had it for a few days and I was on too many meds too fast. Check with your pdoc. It's scary! What meds are you on? Anything new?

check with your doc about antipsychotic meds... i used to take zyprexa... it was ok - gained alot of weight...but theres alot out there

I take Lithium (which is listed as an antipsychotic and anti-mania, mood stablizing med), Neurontin (mood stablizer), Zoloft (antidepressant) and Trazadone (sleep aid and mild antidepressant).

How do you know that you are not psychotic? Do you drink a lot? If you do, you could have korsakoff's syndrome. How do you know they are hallucinations? I remember being at a party at the end of my drinking career and I heard a thump on the roof. Someone said"Did you hear that?" I was so happy that I wasn"t the only one who heard it!

Lithium is the most recent med. I've been on the others for years.

I have and still do sometimes. Just the voices thing. Have no idea why and the dr isn't concerned. Scares the hell out of me though.

I'm a recovering alcoholic. Haven't had a drink in 2 years. Maybe it wasn't a visual hallucination. Maybe it was a ghost. It was very real.

When I was on 400mg's of Lamictal i would see "orbs" out of the corner of my eye , but it stopped when i went to 300. It may be the meds ..dont get to worried..just talk to Pdoc

I see my psychiatrist next week and I'll ask him. Since it's almost a whole week away, I wanted to ask the group about it.

There was a time in my life when I used acid and experienced some pretty powerful Hallucinations, but as far as the BP goes mainly just get a little delusional at times.

deleted_user
So it doesn't mean I'm psychotic?

I do experience vivid auditory hallucinations. They seem to coincide with manic episodes only. I either hear voices, laughter, whispering or sometimes clocks ticking, alarms & phones ringing. Nothing else other than that so far though. I think it is common & many of us experience something similar. I just don't answer them ;) Maybe my place is haunted too.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
