Can a manic episode last longer if you've been drinking a lot? would it prolong the episode?
He thinks he's better and thinking straight but on last weekend was in a manic episode, seems that that's when he pushes me away..this time has ended it for good:( even though he was telling me he loved me last week but this week he told me that he was drunk when he sent text messages out of the blue telling me he loved me and after we spent a lovely weekend together where he was happy to be with me and loved me.
We had a good relationship for 4 and half years and now it's all dissappeared.....i still love him and believe he does love me deep down....but can't seem to face up to his bp and keeps going off his meds(i think he's not on then atm too)
Sorry i've kinda gone off on one but any advice or if anyone can relate or give me some insight as to what he may be feeling....i just want to see him get better but in his words he wants to go out on a friday get wasted and have fun on the weekend and then go to work on monday....
any replies welcome....so confused! x

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
As long as he keeps going off his meds, he is a 'loaded gun'. One trigger, and BAM, we're off and running again.
MAIN POINT: Meds and too much booze don't mix. The booze makes them far less effective, and the combination can have BAD side effects health-wise (and obviously personality-wise).
Like DarkSign said, loaded gun. BPs are strongly prone to substance abuse (over 55% have SA problems in their lifetime). There may be two issues at work, and one makes the other worse: drinking problem and uncontrolled BP. As long as there's an active drinking problem, you can't manage the BP.
Me: Longtime alcoholic, BP totally out of control until I stopped drinking. Meds had no chance to work, and I was a raging drunk on top of it. I'm no anti-drinking fanatic, and have no problem with people who use it sensibly and enjoy it; what you're talking about sounds like alcohol abuse. Now that I'm not drinking, BP finally manageable.
Good luck.
