I have become unable to work and/or hold down a job and support myself. I am interested in trying to go on disability, but know nothing about it and how to get the process started. I live in Maryland and from what I understand it is next to impossible to get it unless you are 1. physically disabled 2. have children 3. a minority. Will I need to hire a lawyer and is it possible?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My advice is go to a lawyer straight away.
peace, t
There were a few other threads on this subject last week that might help you too. Look for SSI or SSID
anything like that. once you know that you are denied then you call Binder and Binder or look in the phone book and you can find them in there. They will explain how they work and how you pay them.
If you can afford it get the lawyer, it is worth it.
