Hey everyone. I have been on here reading, but haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I found out last week that I was denied assistance to have my ovarian tumor surgery. Now what? The pain gets worse every day and I bleed 24/7. Does anyone know of any programs out there that might be able to help me? I'm pretty depressed about it since I really thought they'd approve me. I cry every day and I'm so scared. Isn't this what 'assistance' is supposed to be for? People who don't have health insurance who need healthcare? Guess not. I hope everyone has a nice day. Take care.

Contact your local newspaper and/or TV and/or radio stations if they have a consumer advocate -- they will approach those in power and ask them why they made the decision they did. A lot of times, the idea of being 'exposed' in the public forum is enough to make them change their minds.
Many places that hand out money (Unemployment insurance, SSI, welfare, and the like), often turn people down just as a matter of course, becuase at least half those people just fade away and never bother to appeal the decision. Saves them a ton of money. But you have such a valid claim (I think), that if appealing is an option, you most certainly should go for it, as aggressively as you can.
Best of luck to you. This sounds outrageous, dangerous, and totally unfair.
