I am finally studying for my GED at 31 years old and I am stuck on this stupid question... I hate math! If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry a little off topic! Here is the question:
Yessica's car is now worth $12,000. This is 60% of what she paid for it. How much did she pay for the car?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

well, im new to this group and I have been wondering if anyone had these issues before they came out. My current situation is that I'm in a relationship with a man...as of right now. I have always been attracted to women and even been in relationship with one before when I was younger. The last 3 relationships I have been in were with Men. I was even married to one...he always called me a...
60% of 100 is 60, do you remember? 20, 40, 60, 80, 100....
It takes 5 "20 percents" to reach a whole, and 60% represents 3/5 of the whole.
So if you divide 12,000 by 5, what do you get?
Once you have done that, multiply that by 3, and you have your answer.
(I encouraged All my students to learn to do it in their heads, but I don't know how much math you have had)
Good luck! :)
original price = 100 %
so $12000 = 100%40% = 60%
So 1% of the original price = 12000 divided by 60
its 100 x (12000 divided by 60)
I THINK which 20,000 :) hopefully im not wrong haha
60% of something is Less than the something. Use logic.
Try again. :)
then how am i wrong i am so sorry but i don't get it
So yes Mush you are right
20000/5x3 = 12000
Again it works out
Lovely. Mush, you may shoot me at will, because of preconceived notions on My part.
Hah! lol
Sorry, AngelWings Please don't listen to me this morning! :P
$12,000 is 60% of BLANK
$12,000 divided by 60% = $20,000. (Use the %key on calculator. Or,
$12,000 divided by .60 = $20,000. (Convert % to decimal with a dot.)
Think of decimals in dollars.
.25 = 25% of $1.00 The dollar is a whole. The 25% is a portion of the whole.
Hope that helps.
n=60x12000/100
n=7200
yessica paid $7200
60/100=12,000/x
now the way you solve this is
multiply 12,000 by 100 then divide by 60.
that will give you the answer.
I hope that helps.
MK and doorknob are correct
