I'm just wondering if the author of this clip has any experience personally with his hypothesis. MRI's and PET scans of the brain show differences during intense meditation/spiritual experience as well as with schizophrenia but I think lumping BP in with this is doing BP mania/psychosis injustice. The ego is not suspended in profound mania, the person seeks high gratification/high risk behaviours that feed the ego. I could go on but will leave it saying much more research is needed before such a leap is made.

The implications of this is possibly going to upset a lot of people here. To suggest in a way that religion is a result of basically a delusional state.

1. manic depression is not the same as schizophrenia, so very sloppy there.

2. Salvidor Dali would probably not be medicated. His pictures may look strange but they were as a result of his studies in science. He used to read and invite scietists to his house, he even set up a conference there. He studied geometry (hypercube in the crucification and positioning of objects via the golden mean)

I stopped watching there. Bipolars are famous for "religious mania". You can then argue if that is because they then become more sensitive and attune to the "other" (be that a god of some description, gaia, the universe etc) or because they are seeing something that isn't there is up for debate.

well personally eriskigal im not very sure either on the ego mania thing, i just thought that maybe it applied to some people with different levels or types of bipolar, see i have bipolar 2, and i thought well maybe when someone has a severe manic episode this may happen? But there are other interesting things he discuses in the video, but i thought bipolar was like schitzoprenia because of the delusions which i have had a massive experience with.

I think he's missed many crucial points although I have experienced a many mystical things that have been proven true at the beginning of episodes.

Enlightenment is calm, you don't feel the need to do or say anything that someone else might see as insane. they might not understand it, but no one would percieve you as psychotic or a threat to yourself or others.

When the diagnosis includes psychosis it really opens up the definition of being bi polar...i didn't read the link but to answer your question...yessssssssssssssss
