Before diagnosis, how did you rationalize or explain your highs and lows, deep sensitivity, inflated self-esteem one minute and self-hatred the next, to yourself? Or did you just not think about it?
I think I just always perceived myself as a little different from others, ultra sensitive, and just felt I was sort of shaped by my environment/cared too much about what others thought. But I also perceived the paranoia and anxiety as "normal" and real reactions to things, which I don't anymore.

I became intimate with my English teacher, and she kept me stable. She was older and very compassionate. Not only was she my lover... she was my therapist. She kept me under control. I learned to adapt. If it wasn't for her... I'd be dead. BP is so much acceptable if you have someone that understands you and tries (along with yourself), to make your life work. She'd make up her mind... and I'd make up mine. We'd compare notes.
Compassion and companionship is SO important. BP's are fragile and need all the support they can get.
