the longest i have ever had one mood is close to three weeks. manic, depressive, hypomanic, mixed... any extreeme any time. some times 2 or 3 BIG shifts in a day. Because not all synptoms have to change at a time (ie. being irritable in manic is almost identical to frustration in depression) I hardley no when I'm coming or going. I never had more than a few minutes of "neutral" mood off meds, and hardly made it a day on. Does anyone here get what i'm saying? How do you cope?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. i find lots of rest when i need it (stay in bed if you have to and who cares!), regular exercise (i personally like walking, good to let the mind wander while the feet do) and diet designed to keep blood-sugar level (like for a diabetic) helps to keep me from swinging too fast, but also able to bounce back quickly from the lows when i need to.
most key is SLEEP, 8 hours every night...my pdoc prescribed imovane to keep my sleep regular when i can't do it on my own, and it makes a HUGE difference
