I know it sounds kind of strange, the topic, however, that is the best way I can explain it...The God Trap.
I am highly knowledgeable about the history of the world in realation to religion and most especially the pages of the bible.
I got caught in the God Trap.
I am still stuck in it.
I was sexually abused in grammer school and the mixture of feeling dirty from Catholic God teachings shorted me out. Both equally at fault for my mental malfunctions.
Supposedly, I went into psychosis and was in it for "God" knows how long.
I, from God teachings from the bible, was bent on trying to do it God's way for forever but just could not get it quite right and kept "falling" into sin.
I had a vision in my sleep in 1995.
Had an angel sent to warn me in about 2000.
And a whole bunch of other shit.
Unknowingly, being bi-polar throughout.
All the kinds of things that happened to me were written about in the bible happening to others. But, I did not know they were even in there until I went on a manic bible kick from the year 2003-2006 which ended up in a psychotic episode.
Before that time I BELIEVED all I experienced was real.
After, I must believe it was not real but my mind caught up in delusion.
Now if you have ever got caught up in God stuff you can see how it can affect each and evert aspect of your life.
Beer parties become improper.
Drinking becomes improper.
Family rules.
Horror movies and violent movies become a no, no.
Most music cannot be handled to be listened to because of languague and connotations.
And on and on it goes.
Horoscopes and Astrology shit a real no no.
Psychic reading shit a real no no.
And on and on it goes.
I call this the God trap.
Before 2003 I was really not caught in the God trap. After, yikes.
Can anyone even relate to where I am coming from here?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
You post this type of post multiple times..
I really feel sorry for your problems, but we all have them and I know yours is bad I am sure some people have had just as bad or worse and still worship god.
I had your mindset about 6-7 years and without god in my life I did a lot of things that I wish I never would have. Yea maybe they where my stupid decisions but if I was following what the bible teaches then I would not have done any of them.
I don't see why people think they have to "mold" their ways to what society is I mean look how messed up our society is right now? This nation has forgot god and honestly is paying for it.
I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school and attended church on Sundays. However, I wasnt raised strict Catholic and my parents just sent me off to church every Sunday along with having to attend daily Mass in school. I never got in that "God trap" of feeling all the intricate rules of my religion. I learned to appreciate the Sacraments and live the best I could. That didnt mean eliminating everything from my life. I was and still am a sinner.
What I do know is that I am forgiven. Aside from all the rituals I honestly feel God in my life. Even through all the horrible times and struggles I never lost my faith. It has been my lifeline to hope. I have experienced God so many times that those are the ultimate reasons above and beyond my religion that I believe in God.
I cant "give" you God, He is already there for you. You have to open that door and somehow forgive and forget the aweful things that happened to you.
Hugs
as for the bible, i know it was written by men, so i read it (not often) with that in mind. i think of the bible as more of a collection of stories used to help people through tough times. thats what i think its supposed to be. i dont believe it is "god's word" i think its a bunch of stories about past peoples understandings of situations and higher powers.
i think it also probably came out like a game of telephone. you know those games everyone played as a kid. where it starts off as "i like dogs" and gets passed through a bunch of people and ends up coming out as "potatoes make french fries"
thats what i think atleast :)
Thus far nothing in the bible has been proven 100%
Man wrote the bible. How many times has it been rewritten? And has anything been added or removed?
"God" created Adam and Eve, but man evolved from apes. So which came first? And what about the dinosaurs?
All in all, I don't really have any certain belief/s. I feel though each person should be able to believe in what they want. As long as they don't force it upon anyone else.
The Bible's best description of a dinosaur-like animal is recorded in Job chapter 40. Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox. What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly! His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron. He ranks first among the works of God (Job 40:15-19).
The book of Job is very old, probably written around 2,000 years before Jesus was born. Here God describes a great king of the land animals like some of the biggest dinosaurs, the Diplodocus and Apatosaurus. It was a gigantic plant-eater with great muscles and very strong bones. The long Diplodocus had leg bones so strong that he could have held three others on his back.
The behemoth were not afraid. They did not need to be; they were huge. Their tails were so long and strong that God compared them to cedars - one of the largest and most spectacular trees of the ancient world.
After all the behemoth had died out, many people forgot them. Dinosaurs were extinct and the fossil skeletons that are in museums today did not begin to be put together until about 150 years ago. Today, some people have mistakenly guessed that the behemoth mentioned in the Bible might be an elephant or a hippopotamus. But those animals certainly do not have tails like the thick, tall trunks of cedar trees! Although it cannot be stated with certainty, it appears that dinosaurs may have actually been mentioned in the Bible. This should not sound so strange. After all, God tells us that He created all the land animals on the 6th day of creation, the same day that he created mankind. Man and dinosaurs lived at the same time. There was never a time when dinosaurs ruled the earth. From the very beginning of creation, God gave man dominion over all that was made, even over the dinosaurs.
I wasn't searching for God, the delusion came to me. Or was it a delusion....? = God trap
My expereience was positive. Sorry yours wasn't. Stop trying to figure it out if you can. You are getting nowhere, right? Still at square one...
I really feel for you as I can relate. Don't look for God through other people.
