I have been at the same place now for about a year and a half. I have been a supervisor for all but 2 months of that time while there. My colleges respect me, I have awlways had good attendance and they all know that I work hard while I am at work.
This last 3 months has been hell on my work performance and I am thinking that maybe being a sup isnt the best idea for me. The stress is really high and people depend on me to be stable and and make sound descisions.
Whenever I make a descision thousands of dollars are on the line each time. My job is always under watch and I am expected to have zero error. The paper work is never ending and I have to always find ways to resolve financial issues between employees.
On the sixth I am going to the doc and he will be putting me on some new meds. I plan on taking them, and I know that eventually I will be better, and I will be able to do my job.
Do you think that I should step down?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
question is, when you say your "work preformance" over the last 3 months has been "hell", does that mean that you have had some disciplinary actions taken or have been taking aside?
have you had negative feedback from those you supervise? or is it the POSSIBILITY of failing/falling that concerns you the most?
if it is only the POSSIBLITY, then no, don't step down. i say stick it out, esp if you think your meds just need some adjusting so you can get through. if you are on the "last string" with your managers, then stepping down may be something to consider until you are mentally able to handle the responsibilities and stress.
good luck!
I internalised it and told my boss who I was working with at the time that I can not function and that I have to get out of there before something bad happened. She didnt understand and thought that I was angry with her.
We had a sit down with HR and the big boss and the other boss in question there I had to explain that I have terrible sleep issues and that it interferes with my work.
They all sugested that I go on intermediate FMLA. So I did.
Problem with that is that it is a career destroyer. Now I wont be able to go any higher where I work.

Sounds like you can do the job when on top form. Sometimes you just need to make the plunge, you may surprise yourself :)
